Canadian Pardons and U.S. Waivers

Pardons

A pardon will seal all manner of criminal convictions in Canada. A waiting period of 3, 5, or 10 years must elapse before one is eligible. Once a pardon is granted, no police agency, federal authority, or employer can access these records. A pardon can aid in seeking employment, obtaining bond, security checks, volunteer work and travel to foreign countries.

A PARDON IS NOT RECOGNIZED BY THE U.S. A waiver may still be required even though a pardon has been granted. A passport alone will not ensure safe border crossing if you have a criminal record.

U.S. Waivers

A waiver is a document granted by Customs and Border Protection and allows hassle free entry into the United States. Any Canadian or Permanent Resident possessing a criminal record (or if you have been denied entry into the U.S.) should contact Winnipeg Pardon Services Enterprises MB. to determine their eligibility to receive a waiver. To continue to travel without a waiver may result in the seizure of your vehicle, monetary fines, or a possible jail sentence. A waiver allows one to travel for business or pleasure. It is not permission to work or reside in the U.S.
